Summary

Rotations: Based at Worcestershire Royal Hospital and the Alexandra Hospital, Redditch. They will offer clinical experience in the following areas: Acute and General/Speciality Medicine Services: You will develop skills in acute illness management; manual handling assessment and interventions; development of knowledge and experience around equipment provision; end of life and palliative care discharge planning. Acute Inpatient Stroke Ward: You will develop skills, knowledge and experience of acute stroke. You will work closely with the MDT, following national guidelines in order to facilitate discharge planning. General and Vascular Surgery: You will develop the skills and knowledge to facilitate discharge planning, including fast paced discharges and be introduced to specialist equipment provision, including wheelchairs for amputees. You will participate in a range of community visits to support discharge planning and liaison with community services. Trauma and Orthopaedics/Elective Orthopaedics You will be supported to develop confidence in administering assessments, providing equipment as required and completing cognitive assessments following acute traumatic brain injury. You will participate in access/community visits to support discharge planning. There is a strong emphasis on occupational focused assessments pre and post-surgery. Complex Care: You will be working with patients with a range of complex neurological conditions based on the medical wards. You will be supported by skilled senior Therapists to participate in cognitive and mood assessments. There is the opportunity to develop skills in upper limb splinting to support occupational performance. GEMS/Frailty and Elderly Care: You will develop skills, knowledge and experience in the specialist area of Geriatric Elderly medicine, including person-centred Dementia care. You will have the opportunity to be involved with complex discharge planning, MDT working and multi-factorial assessment and discharge planning. Community Partnerships As our services continues to integrate with our partner organisations you may have the opportunity to rotate into community services e.g Reablement, Neighbourhood Teams and Community Hospitals.
