Supporting people in a smoke-free journey can be an emotive topic. The post requires conversations to be held about potential harm and risk to the person in order to highlight the importance of quitting smoking. Support will be available with this from the Lead and other obstetric colleagues.

We confirm that the details of the above post as presented are correct. This is a description of the duties of the post as it is at present. This is not intended to be exhaustive. The job will be reviewed on a regular basis in order to ensure that the duties meet the requirements of the service and to make any necessary changes

· Provide advice and support to clinical staff, using the support of interventions such as CO monitoring, behavioural support, practical and social support, and Nicotine Replacement Therapy/QUIT programme.

· Work with the specialist Lead to deliver stop smoking support, and assist with administration of the smoke free data collection and collation.

· Order and maintain stocks of Nicotine Replacement Therapy and issuing it to service users as per agreed guidance.

· Promote the general health and wellbeing of people who use the service through offering healthy lifestyle advice and support.

· Seek out opportunities to develop and implement stop smoking services in a range of health and community settings.

· Work with minimal indirect supervision operating within the assessed level of competence and being accountable for all aspects of own work.

· Escalate and record any possible safeguarding issues to the relevant agencies and seek support in this from the inhouse safeguarding team and lead.
