This role plays a key part in driving brand visibility, credibility and demand among business audiences through effective storytelling, media engagement and campaign support.
Reporting to the Senior Communications Manager, you will work closely with colleagues in Trade & Campaigns, CRM and eCommerce to ensure PR activity is aligned with commercial priorities and the wider trade and campaigns plan. From crafting media stories and press releases to managing agency partners and identifying opportunities for new course and product launches, you’ll help ensure St John Ambulance’s voice is heard across key sectors and industry media.
While focused on driving St John Ambulance’s commercial growth, the role also supports our wider charitable mission of putting the power of first aid in everyone’s hands.
About You
You will be educated to degree level (or equivalent experience) in PR, Communications, Journalism, Marketing or a related field, demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development (eg. attending workshops, gaining short-course certificates, or maintaining professional body CPD requirements), a proven experience delivering PR and communications activity for a brand, organisation, agency or equivalent and demonstrable experience planning and executing PR campaigns that support commercial, brand or marketing objectives.
About the Role
PR Strategy & Planning: Develop and deliver a proactive B2B PR plan that raises awareness of St John Ambulance’s Enterprise activity, aligned with commercial objectives and campaigns.
Media Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists and trade media in key sectors (e.g. H&S, HR construction, education, healthcare, manufacturing, retail) to secure positive, high-impact coverage.
Campaign Integration: Work with the Trade & Campaigns Planning Manager to ensure PR activity supports and amplifies Enterprise campaigns, new course or product launches, and major partnerships.
Digital PR & SEO Integration: Collaborate with digital and SEO colleagues to optimise PR content, strengthen backlinks and referral traffic, and measure the impact of digital PR on engagement and search visibility.
Content & Storytelling: Produce engaging, audience-focused PR materials – including press releases, case studies and thought-leadership – that showcase St John Ambulance’s expertise and social impact.
Press Office Support: Support day-to-day press office activity, responding to enquiries and supporting the drafting of reactive statements to protect reputation.
