HEAD OF PEOPLE & CULTURE

Part-time · 22.5 hours per week (0.6 FTE)
Salary: £50,000–£55,000 pro rata (£30,000–£33,000 actual)
Location: Nottingham (hybrid)

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Head of People & Culture will lead the development and delivery of our People &
Culture strategy. You’ll ensure we attract, support and retain exceptional staff and freelancers, while strengthening Nottingham
Playhouse’s reputation as a great place to work.

You will act as a trusted adviser to the Executive Team, Senior Management Team and Board, guiding organisational culture,
embedding inclusive practices, and supporting managers with confidence and clarity. This is a hands on, strategic role with real
influence across the whole organisation.


WHAT YOU’LL DO

* Lead and deliver our People & Culture strategy aligned with the Playhouse’s mission and values.

* Drive a positive, inclusive and psychologically safe workplace culture.

* Provide expert HR insight and advice to senior leaders and the Board.

* Oversee workforce planning, organisational development and culture change projects.

* Support and guide managers on employee relations, performance, wellbeing and complex casework.

* Ensure compliance with employment law, safeguarding and HR best practice.

* Manage HR systems, data reporting and policy development.

* Lead recruitment, onboarding, learning and development, and talent progression.

* Champion EDI, wellbeing and staff engagement across the organisation.

* Manage the People & Culture budget and work closely with external specialists when required.


ABOUT YOU

We’re looking for a dynamic, empathetic HR professional who is passionate about building healthy, values driven workplaces. You’ll
bring:

* Significant senior HR experience in a generalist leadership role

* Strong skills in employee relations and casework

* Trade Union experience

* Excellent knowledge of employment law and HR compliance

* Experience developing people strategies, culture change and wellbeing programmes

* Confidence working with senior leaders and influencing at all levels

* Excellent coaching, communication and relationship-building skills

* Integrity, empathy and resilience

* CIPD Level 7+ or equivalent professional expertise

Desirable: experience in the arts/creative sector, familiarity with freelancer/artist contracting and experience with HRIS and ATS
