Summary
We are looking for Band 5 Occupational Therapists to join our therapy team at Glenfield Hospital.
You will join our established team of therapists and manage a caseload across the cardiology wards at Glenfield Hospital, working collaboratively with the MDT to get the best outcome for the patients and facilitate timely discharges.
You will develop and maintain a high level of knowledge of cardiology and respiratory conditions. You will work closely with both physiotherapists and occupational therapists developing your skills and competencies, treating patients from admission through to discharge. Opportunities will be available to experience other specialties as flexibility to utilise skills in other areas is essential for participation in weekend working as required.
You need to be an HCPC registered Occupational Therapist.

INTERVIEWS WILL BE FACE TO FACE
This post is part time 29 hours.
You will be responsible for managing your own caseload, working to service priorities, carrying out functional assessments, treatments and interventions to facilitate safe and effective discharges. Working with those who may have complex needs including physical, psychological and communication difficulties. You will be providing a high standard of occupational therapy care as part of a responsive and patient centered service.
You will demonstrate excellent communication and time management skills, be able to work on your own and within a team. working with patients, carers and their families in a sensitive and professional manner.
You will be supported both formally and informally by senior staff and the wider team. We ensure regular clinical supervision, one to one meetings and have a robust appraisal process and preceptorship programme.

Job responsibilities
• Develop, maintain and promote effective professional working relationships with other disciplines and members of the Occupational Therapy Team.
• Be responsible for managing a clinical caseload from assessment to discharge/transfer of care within defined protocols, in order to facilitate a timely and safe discharge from hospital.
• To liaise with Social Services, NHS Community Occupational Therapists and other community agencies with regard to provision of equipment, treatment and/or support for patients on discharge.
• To be aware of medical and therapeutic developments affecting the Occupational Therapist's role.
• Carry out all professional duties in accordance with the code of professional conduct as issued by the Royal College of Occupational Therapists.
