Summary
JOB SUMMARY To coordinate, lead, design and deliver clinical skills programmes for the registered workforce which meet agreed service priorities and regulatory requirements for clinicians employed across South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (SWYPFT). Working as a clinical role model based in the Learning and Development Department, contributing to the annual planning and delivery of wider learning and development activity, travelling across the trust providing opportunities to increase clinical knowledge and skills to the registered workforce, using a train the trainer model of delivery. KEY RESULT AREAS: The postholder will: 1.1 Care/service/function provision: Practice in accordance with the relevant registration body, such as NMC/ HCPC To co-ordinate, lead, develop and deliver clinical learning and development programmes for registered staff, meeting the organisational objectives set out in the Trusts Learning Needs Analysis. Deliver training programmes which provide the opportunity for registered staff to develop clinical skills, improve standards and promote the principles of high quality, comprehensive care. Maintaining a competent workforce using a train the trainer model. Deliver training programmes which are reflective of the Trusts policy and procedures and assess, plan, implement and evaluate, ensuring the provision of high-quality clinical skills training meets the needs of the registered workforce. An expert practitioner offering advice and support for the subject area, working alongside the Learning and Development Manager, and Systems Leaders to support clinical innovation and excellence in practice, professional and clinical development. Actively ensure that staff acquire further skills and qualifications relevant to their role and that they are appropriately supervised and appraised in clinical competency, considering learners pastoral needs. To establish a rolling timetable of education, training, learning and development activity against the plan to assist managers to plan staff release as necessary. Contribute to the annual planning and delivery of wider learning and development activity To provide regular and timely written and verbal reports for the Head of Learning and Development and service-line managers in relation to progress towards meeting the learning and development plan. To ensure that the learning and development plan is kept-up-to date to reflect service priorities arising during the course of the performance year.- could remove, its been said elsewhere I think To support the development and implementation of service strategies which have education, training, learning and development implications e.g. transformation and service improvements. Contribute to the maintenance of training records to ensure consistency of recording and monitoring of training undertaken, by way of data collection. Use to ESR providing baseline figures for numbers of candidates attending and number of courses delivered. 1.2 Working as part of a Team: Work collaboratively as part of an integrated Learning & Development and Human Resources Quality Academy team ensuring learning and development activity is aligned with Organisational Learning Needs Analysis (LNA) and service delivery plans Network with clinical skills providers locally and nationally to ensure high standards of teaching and assessment. To assist in the ongoing development of the clinical training packages, offering a high degree of participation and ideas for innovation. Work in partnership with the Service and Systems Leaders to ensure compliance of the CQC standards are met by staff that have the right knowledge, experience, qualifications and skills to support service users. Act as a supportive link to practitioners needing additional/specialist advice. Attend trust meetings when required that are relevant to the clinical skills and share good practice. Contribute to the Learning and Development directory/ training matrix. 1.3 Managing Self: Be accountable for own practice and take every reasonable opportunity to sustain and improve own knowledge and professional competency. Undertake the keyworker role, liaising and working collaboratively with other professionals preventing duplication, fragmentation and ensuring the effective deployment of evidenced base resources. To maintain specialist knowledge and experience, incorporating planning, developing and implementing clinical training programmes, with specific focus on upskilling the registered workforce. To represent the Learning and Development Department at key forums within and outside the organisation as necessary. Use demand and capacity data to enable effective workload management. Maintain an awareness of national and local policy that impacts upon the health and wellbeing of patients within the clinical service. 1.4 Management Supervision and Support: 1. To support the Head of Learning and Development/ Director of Nursing in the allocation of the CPD/ HEE funding from external sources. 2. To support the Head of Learning and Development and service-line managers to make the best use of education budgets ensuring delivery of the plan remains within available resources. 3. To work in support of other members of SWYPFT and other Health and Social Care partners who have an interest or remit for delivering relevant training and development activity. 1.5 Financial Responsibility: 1. Design and deliver high quality learning and development solutions at the most effective cost, which meets stakeholder needs. 2. Use Trust resources efficiently and suggest alternative solutions where learning and development cost savings can be made 3.
