Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Data clerk to join the stroke department The post holder will be an enthusiastic and motivated member of the team who will primarily support data entry into the Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme (SSNAP) database here at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals.

1. Inputting SSNAP data into the local and national reporting databases.
2. Liaising with Stroke senior clinical and therapy teams to ensure all domains of the SNAPP are detailed and identify areas of improvement/decline.
3. Work closely with senior clinical, nursing and therapy teams on a daily basis any issues with the data identified in patient records that is not clear to ensure clarity of detail.
4. Retrieval and tracing of case notes required for entry into SSNAP if not located on Stroke unit.
5. Close working with SSNAP data analyst to arrange cross cover in times of leave
6. Participate in relevant internal and external working meetings to provide information to maintain data collection systems for their effective use by the team.
7. Provide information to senior clinical and operational team on regular basis and report any anomalies.
8. Maintain constructive relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
9. Communicate information and issues, including briefings and reports to Service and Directorate Manager and wider clinical MDT within the stroke unit which includes Medical staff, Nursing Staff and Therapy Staff.
10. Promote clinical audit throughout the Trust as a quality Improvement to patient care and service delivery individually and as a team member.

The post holder will primarily be responsible for providing accurate data input into the national audit database Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme (SSNAP) along with other local audit databases. This will involve accurately scrutinising case notes and hospital systems for the relevant data that must be entered onto SSNAP in a highly accurate manner. This information will need to be brought to the weekly SSNAP breach meeting.



The post therefore demands a high attention to detail, organisation skills, knowledge of hospital systems and good time management skills to ensure timely and precise data entry in order to meet deadlines. The post holder must be proficient in using various IT systems.



There will be a requirement to work closely and as part of the wider stroke multi-disciplinary team such as nursing, therapy and clinical colleagues in order to ensure data quality is as accurate as possible before entry into SSNAP and other local stroke associated databases in use.



There will be an element of moving and handling associated with the post due to the need to retrieve case notes from locations across the Trust in order to extract data for entry.
