ABOUT THE ROLE
We are recruiting a passionate and reliable SEN Classroom Assistant to support a trauma-informed SEMH school in Great Yarmouth. This role plays a vital part in helping children aged 5 - 16 build confidence, manage emotions, and re-engage with learning in a safe, nurturing environment.

THE SCHOOL
This is a warm, supportive, and child-focused school specialising in Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The team is committed, energetic, and dedicated to ensuring every child feels understood, valued, and capable of success.

YOUR MAIN DUTIES
Create a calm, structured and supportive classroom environment
Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN and SEMH
Assist the class teacher with practical, engaging learning activities
Help pupils develop social skills, resilience and independence
Support positive behaviour strategies and celebrate progress
Engage in indoor and outdoor learning
Adapt learning resources for individual needs
Participate in regular physical activities such as floor play or responding quickly to escalated situations

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Experience working with children or young people (education, care, youth work, etc.)
Understanding of trauma-informed practice, or willingness to train
Calm, patient, consistent and encouraging personality
Confidence in managing challenging behaviour positively
Passion for supporting neurodiverse learners
Knowledge of safeguarding (or willingness to complete training)
Team player with initiative and a great sense of humour
