Crynodeb
To lead the room on:
Maintaining and monitoring a high quality of teaching and interactions with children.
Planning age appropriate activities for the Children and delivering those planned activities.
Observing, monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the progress of each of the Children.
Reviewing, maintaining and updating records relating to each of the Children on the system in line with employers process and procedures.
To ensure that the indoor and outdoor learning environment meets the needs of the children in the room.
Ensuring Statutory 2 year checks are completed in time and accurately. Also term reports are completed in time for the termly parent evenings.
Ensure that children and parents are engaged in the activities ongoing at the nursery and participate and contribute. E.g. dressing up days, world book days, den day, sports day, Halloween, Christmas party etc.
Ensuring that baseline assessments are completed on time and within 4 weeks of a new child joining. Where possible parents' inputs are sought. Irrespective of parent’s inputs we should be able to do baseline assessments based on our observations on the new children.
Ensure that any child with special needs is identified and work with SENCO and manager to put in appropriate plans to support the children.
To be flexible between the opening hours of the nursery in opening and/or closing the nursery when necessary alongside a Level 3 qualified staff member.
To:
To ensure that resources are properly used and put back in place they belong.
To minimise the occurrence of accidents and incidents at the nursery.
To ensure that accidents and incidents are appropriately documented.Work to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the Children at all times, whilst at the setting, in transit and at other places;
To risk assess the indoor and outdoor environment and ensure that staff in the room have a practice of risk assessment and managing and controlling risks to ensure safety and well being of children.
Work to ensure that staff health and safety is managed and escalated for manager’s attention when required.
To maintain confidentiality of all information of the parents and children and the setting such that the information should not be disclosed to any person without specific authorisation of the employer and the parents.
To maintain cleanliness and organisation of the rooms.
Ensure that the outing policy is complied with while planning for any outings. Ensure all outings are risk assessed. Including ensuring that parents' permissions are in place for children going on outings.
Ensure that any child’s medical needs are highlighted and appropriately managed.
Ensure that parents are sign posted to relevant local services and drop in clinics such as for Speech and language, and EP where required.
To adhere to employers policies and procedures.
To plan and hold effective and impactful staff meetings at least once each month.
To advise monthly newsletters to parents and staff for learning and development and other events of the room and nursery.
To ensure that parents get timely and swift responses to their queries, concerns and complaints.
To provide parents/guardians with information about the Children to the extent authorised by the Employer and in line with the Employer’s policies and procedures.
Displays: To take responsibility for a display within the room, keeping it up to date with child work, with references to British Values and the EYFS Framework.
To communicate with external agencies for support for children only after specific Parental consent is put in place prior.
