Summary
ROLE: Exam Markers
LOCATION: Remote (Work from home)
SALARY: Indicatively around £3 per script, leading to a potential efficient hourly rate of approximately £15
CONTRACT: Temporary, short-term, fixed-term contract per examination series
We are looking for highly accurate and experienced subject specialists to join our team of remote Exam Markers for the upcoming examination series. This flexible, contract role is ideal for qualified teachers or lecturers with deep knowledge of (GCSE English Literature, GCSE English Language, GCSE Mathematics, GCSE Statistics, GCSE Biology, GCSE Chemistry, GCSE Physics).

About the Role
The primary purpose of the Exam Marker is to accurately and reliably assess candidate examination scripts according to the provided mark scheme, subject-specific guidance, and assessment regulations. The Marker is responsible for ensuring the consistency and quality of marking to maintain the integrity of the examination process, requiring strong, up-to-date subject knowledge and familiarity with the assessment specification.
Responsibilities
Marking Delivery: Accurately mark allocated examination scripts within strict deadlines, applying the official mark scheme consistently to ensure fair and equitable assessment.
Quality Assurance: Participate in mandatory standardisation training and engage with digital marking platforms to ensure quality and consistency are maintained throughout the marking series.
Compliance & Security: Maintain strict confidentiality and security of all exam materials and candidate data, completing all necessary administrative records in line with regulatory requirements.
Commitment & IT: Ensure availability for intensive 3-week marking windows (typically Oct, Dec, and Feb) and possess the required IT setup (Windows PC/laptop with secure broadband) to undertake the work effectively.
Essential Requirements
To be considered for this role, you will need to meet the following criteria:
Qualifications: Possess suitable academic qualifications, including a degree in the subject or be working towards a degree in the subject
Subject knowledge: Strong, current subject knowledge for the subject you are applying for.
Residency: Must be a UK resident.
Availability: Be available for approximately 3 weeks of intensive script marking, typically falling between the October, December, and/or February series.
Training: Commit to undertaking mandatory Examiner training.
Technical: Must have a personal Windows PC (Windows 8 or later) and secure broadband access.
Previous marking experience is highly desirable.
