Are you ready to play a pivotal role in shaping the financial systems that underpin our council’s success? We are seeking a Systems and Transactional Accountant to ensure our financial infrastructure is robust, efficient, and future-ready.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Finance team at a time of transformation and innovation. You will help us deliver seamless financial processes that support services across Huntingdonshire, enabling us to provide the best possible outcomes for our residents and businesses.
About the role
In this key position, you will lead the administration and development of our TechnologyOne Financial Management System (FMS) and oversee the Transactional Finance team. Your work will ensure compliance, integrity, and efficiency across all financial systems and processes.
You will:
Manage and enhance the council’s financial systems, driving automation and innovation
Provide technical expertise and training to colleagues at all levels
Oversee BACS administration for payments and income collection
Support treasury management, VAT, and purchase card processes
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to deliver system upgrades and improvements
Lead projects that integrate financial systems with wider council services.
Your role is critical to maintaining accurate financial information, enabling effective decision-making, and ensuring smooth financial operations across the council.
About you
We are looking for a proactive and skilled finance professional who combines technical expertise with strong communication and leadership abilities. You should have:
Full AAT qualification or part CCAB qualification (essential)
Experience in finance systems administration and a thorough understanding of local government finance
Confidence to work effectively at all levels and deliver training to finance and non-finance staff
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
A collaborative approach and commitment to continuous improvement
Experience with TechnologyOne (T1), treasury management, and VAT is desirable but not essential.
