Crynodeb
To undertake training to be able to provide a comprehensive diagnostic ultrasound service for patients with peripheral vascular disease and to undertake the whole range of patient assessments provided by the Vascular Studies Unit, according to the departmental protocols. To liaise with administration staff regarding all bookings for the Vascular Studies Unit. To prioritise and plan work in accordance with clinical demands, which may be unpredictable. To prepare patients for examinations, transferring patients to and from wheelchairs, and dressing/undressing where appropriate. To be responsible for the general welfare of patients whilst they are in the Unit. Including assisting with patients personal hygiene. To provide advice on the non-clinical management of conditions including motivating and encouraging healthier lifestyle changes. To process, analyse and interpret the result data, including manipulating complex image data. To work supervised, carrying out complex Duplex ultrasound examinations and producing high quality, clear and timely reports, detailing results and conclusions for the referring physician to ensure that the patient receives appropriate decisions about their clinical care. To establish and maintain good working relationships with other members of staff and disciplines, to ensure a high standard of patient care and efficient service. To provide effective communication of sensitive and highly technical information to clinical colleagues and patients, both verbal and via written reports, according to departmental protocols. To ensure that all appropriate records, results and reports of patient assessments are maintained and safely stored in the compliance with the Data Protection Act. To follow Departmental and Trust policies, protocols and procedures to maintain optimum patient care in a safe working environment. To be professionally accountable for all actions and reports. To implement and participate in relevant research activity and audits as agreed within the Unit.
