Summary

Leeds East Academy is seeking an experienced, dynamic and committed Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo) to lead and further strengthen our SEND provision. This is a key leadership role at the heart of our academy, working closely with the Principal, Assistant Principal for Inclusion & Provision, and the Senior Leadership Team to drive our strategic vision for inclusion.

As the named SENDCo, you will champion an ambitious, inclusive culture where every learner is valued, supported, and able to achieve their full potential. You will lead the ongoing development and implementation of our SEND policy, embedding strong systems, high-quality provision, and a clear graduated approach across the academy.

Your expertise in SEND practice and proven classroom experience will be central to modelling inclusive teaching, supporting colleagues, and ensuring that all statutory processes-including EHCP management-are delivered to the highest standard. You will oversee intervention pathways, monitor progress for SEND learners and work closely with families, external agencies, and our wider student support team to ensure timely, effective support.

We are looking for a confident communicator with excellent organisational skills, strong strategic insight, and the ability to influence whole-school practice. This role is highly impactful and offers the opportunity to shape our inclusive provision and drive meaningful outcomes for our students.

This position should be read in conjunction with the National Teachers' Standards, post-threshold standards, and the responsibilities of the SENDCo as outlined in the SEND Code of Practice (2014).

All colleagues at White Rose Academies Trust share responsibility for improving outcomes for learners and upholding our ethos. Our work is guided by Keeping Children Safe in Education and the principles of safer working practice.
