Special Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) – SEMH & PMLD Schools

Location: Manchester and surrounding areas
Contract Type: Long Term – Full Time
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Start Date: Ongoing
Pay: Competitive, dependent on experience

We are currently recruiting experienced and resilient Special Needs Teaching Assistants (SEN TAs) to work in specialist schools supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and/or Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).

This is a full-time role ideal for someone who is passionate about inclusive education and thrives in a setting where every day is different.

The Role:

• Supporting pupils on a one-to-one or small group basis

  
  

• Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour calmly and effectively

  
  

• Assisting with personal care and mobility (where required)

  
  

• Promoting engagement and independence in learning activities

  
  

• Working collaboratively with teachers and other support staff

  
  

• Maintaining a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment

  
  What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience supporting pupils with special educational needs

    
    

  • Confidence in supporting pupils with challenging behaviour

    
    

  • Ability to remain calm and patient under pressure

    
    

  • Comfortable working in SEMH or PMLD settings

    
    

  • Full-time availability (Monday to Friday) is essential

    
    

  • Team Teach or other de-escalation training is desirable but not essential
