The Opportunity
You will deliver engaging and high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment in Automotive Studies across Levels 1–3 and T Level programmes. You’ll bring your industry knowledge and enthusiasm into both the workshop and classroom, helping our students develop the practical skills, technical understanding, and professional behaviours they need to succeed in employment, apprenticeships, or higher education.
You will plan, deliver, and assess a variety of lessons that meet awarding body requirements and college standards, creating a learning environment where every student can make progress and feel supported. Your teaching will cover key areas such as maintenance, repair, diagnostics, and electrical and electronic systems, while also introducing learners to new technologies like hybrid and electric vehicles.
You’ll contribute to the ongoing development of the curriculum, ensuring it reflects the latest industry trends and employer needs. Beyond teaching, you will offer academic and pastoral support, motivating our students to achieve their goals and maintain positive attitudes towards their studies.
You’ll also promote a safe, organised, and professional workshop environment and build strong links with employers and industry partners to enhance the learner experience. You’ll also play an active role in quality assurance activities, including internal verification and standardisation, and embed equality, diversity, inclusion, and British values throughout your teaching.
This is a great opportunity to share your passion for the automotive industry while shaping the next generation of skilled technicians and engineers. You’ll have the chance to use your expertise in a hands-on teaching environment, combining practical workshop delivery with classroom-based theory to make a real difference in our students’ learning and future careers.
About You
We’re looking for someone with solid technical expertise in the automotive field and a genuine passion for sharing their knowledge with others. You’ll have experience of delivering learning to a range of learners, using your teaching approach to engage and inspire students of all abilities. You’ll be able to motivate students to attend, participate, and achieve, creating an environment where they feel supported and challenged to reach their full potential.
You should also have strong verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to provide clear and constructive feedback that helps students understand their progress and guides their learning effectively.
A teaching qualification or assessor/verifier awards would be beneficial, though not essential if you’re willing to work towards them. Most importantly, you’ll be committed to delivering high-quality learning experiences, maintaining excellent standards of health and safety, and supporting students to develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed for successful careers in the automotive sector.
