Summary
Neway International are seeking a Mayoral Support Officer – Legal to join our client based with Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.
Location: London Road, Basingstoke, Hampshire, RG21 4AH
Hours: 22.5 per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)
Start Date: 15 December 2025 Duration: 26 Weeks
Pay Rates: PAYE £17.00 per hour / Limited/Umbrella £22.20 per hour

The Role
Reporting to the Democratic and Electoral Services Manager, this temporary position provides essential support to the Mayor and Deputy Mayor. The role is office-based with some flexibility for home working, and occasional off-site duties may be required. The successful candidate will be expected to work outside normal office hours when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
Provide high-quality administrative support including inbox monitoring, diary management, travel arrangements, correspondence handling, and minute-taking.
Attend weekly meetings with the Mayor and Deputy Mayor to advise and co-ordinate their engagement attendance.
Assist with event management for civic and charitable events, including booking venues, arranging transport, organising refreshments, preparing invitations and seating plans, and supporting risk assessments.
Interact professionally and respectfully with the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, councillors, officers, and guests at all times.
Candidate Requirements
Strong administrative and organisational skills with attention to detail.
Experience in diary management and event coordination.
Ability to work flexibly, including occasional hours outside the standard working day.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional approach to stakeholder engagement.
Confidence in managing multiple priorities and delivering accurate, timely support.
