Summary
Ysgol Maes Hyfryd is seeking a caring, reliable and enthusiastic Midday Supervisory Assistant (MDSA) to support pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) throughout the lunchtime period.This is a rewarding role for someone who can provide calm, consistent support and help pupils feel safe, included and engaged during lunch, play and transitions.Contract DetailsHours: 7.5 hours per weekWorking pattern: Monday to Friday, 11:55am – 1:25pmContract: 38 weeks per year (term-time only)Temporary, fixed-term until 31 August 2026. It is the school’s intention to review the post with a view to making it permanent, subject to budget, funding and ongoing service need.Salary: £24,413 – £25,185 pro rataActual salary: £4,150.21 – £4,281.45 per annumKey ResponsibilitiesAs a Midday Supervisory Assistant, you will:Supervise pupils during lunch and outdoor play, ensuring safety, wellbeing and positive engagementSupport pupils with ALN, including pupils who may require support with communication, sensory regulation, transitions and social interactionEncourage inclusive play and positive relationships, supporting pupils’ physical, social and emotional developmentRespond appropriately to incidents, supporting behaviour in a calm and consistent manner in line with school policies and agreed strategiesSupport pupils with eating and drinking, encouraging independence and the development of mealtime skills, where appropriateProvide personal care to pupils when required, in line with individual care plans and school proceduresSupport toileting and intimate care where needed, maintaining dignity, privacy and respect at all times and following agreed hygiene and safeguarding guidelinesAssist pupils with dressing appropriately for outdoor play and activities, as requiredMaintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness, including responding appropriately to spillages and toileting accidents in line with proceduresSet up and clear away dining room furniture and help ensure lunchtime areas are safe and well organisedReport concerns, incidents and accidents to the designated line manager and complete records as requiredFollow school policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, health & safety, security, confidentiality and data protectionWhat We’re Looking ForWe’re looking for someone who:Is calm, patient and confident supporting children and young people with a wide range of additional learning needsCan support personal care and toileting needs in a professional, sensitive and appropriate wayCan promote positive behaviour and build strong, respectful relationships with pupilsUnderstands the importance of routines, consistency and clear communicationWorks well as part of a team and can follow guidance from class staff and senior staffValues inclusion and is committed to supporting pupils to thriveSafeguardingYsgol Maes Hyfryd is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
