Summary

JOB SUMMARY Working as part of a multidisciplinary team the post holder will provide a high quality occupational health service to LYPFT and SWYPFT and external contracts, in accordance with trust policies and procedures. Post holder would be expected to regularly travel to satellite clinics throughout a wide geographical area. Post holder will assist and support the head of occupational health in delivery of an affective and high quality evidence based occupational health service. The post holder will be required to provide professional mentorship and supervision to other MDT colleagues under the direction of the head of occupational health and undertake highly complex case management and line with the equality act 2010. The post holder will be required to undertake a comprehensive range of occupational Health's activities including policy and procedure development and review The post holder will be responsible for the department in the absence of the head of occupational health. KEY RESULT AREAS: Professional Practice To promote and maintain the health and safety and wellbeing of all trust employees by ensuring complex OH advice is based on best evidence based practice Work according to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and relevant professional standards and guidelines including maintenance of confidentiality Work in partnership with all key stakeholders e.g. health & Safety, Infection Prevention & Control, MDT OH Colleagues To analyse complex facts and situations and make appropriate autonomous judgements Assessment of sickness absence and ill health affecting work, including complex rehabilitation and return to work plans Provide highly specialised advice to clients and managers as an autonomous practitioner lead Develop specialised care packages for complex cases and liaise with appropriate external key stakeholders / agencies to ensure holistic approach to health, safety & welfare of client Mentorship and clinical supervision of junior MDT colleagues Undertake audit of OH systems & procedures and make recommendations to improve service delivery Assist in the review of department policies and procedures 2nd line work health assessments and advice to recruitment at pre- employment Attend relevant trust meetings and deputise at high level meetings for Head of OH Administration of vaccinations / immunisations in line with PGDs and vaccinations procedures ( OHA only) Provision of complex case management advice in an independent impartial manner in line with Trust policies and procedures Undertake Health Surveillance programmes ( including spirometry) ( OHA only) Conduct specialist workplace assessments in accordance with regulations, i.e. COSHH, DSE,PPE ( OHA only) Provide reports and statistics to Head of OH to monitor & improve service delivery Plan & deliver seasonal flu programme / training of peer to peer vaccinators Communication and partnership working Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the Trusts Ability to use interpersonal skills in highly emotive situations, to ensure the best outcomes are achieved for all parties. Able to support Head of OH in the provision of a nurse led OH Service Liaise regularly with other disciplines within the Trust i.e. Infection control, Health & Safety. Contribute & participate in Departmental meetings/ lead meetings Able to provide clinical guidance to junior members of the team Provide mentorship to junior staff members Attend case conference meeting with HR/ managers to provide expert advice and guidance to assist in the management of attendance. Regularly participate in working parties to improve collaborative services. Decision making and advice Able to manage / supervise junior OH staff & administration staff in the absence of Head of OH Prioritise and plan the client caseload of all team members. Be professionally responsible & accountable for own actions & outcomes Able to manage external contracts on a day to day basis INITIATING AND IMPLEMENTING CHANGE Regular audit of systems & procedures to improve service delivery. Assist Head of OH Services & Administration Manager in ongoing development of income generation to external businesses. Manage / supervise external contracts to maximise income generation Continually assess service provision and suggest improvements in service delivery Regular audit of service elements to affect efficiencies & improvements in all areas of the department.
