**Overview**
We are seeking a reliable and physically capable Yard Hand to join our team. This role involves supporting the maintenance, organisation, and operational activities within our outdoor auto yard environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, practical skills, and a willingness to learn. Previous experience with mechanical tasks or equipment is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided. Forklift operation is part of the role, with certification offered if required. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop hands‑on skills in a dynamic setting, with flexible hours starting at **16 per week and scope to increase up to 40 (full‑time).**
**Duties**
- Assisting with the organisation and cleanliness of the yard area to ensure safety and efficiency
- Operating forklifts and other equipment to move vehicles, parts, and materials safely around the yard
- Using hand tools and power tools for assembly, repair, and maintenance tasks
- Conducting basic equipment repairs, including welding and mechanical adjustments
- Reading and interpreting schematics to facilitate assembly or repair work
- Performing heavy lifting to move materials or equipment safely
- Supporting routine maintenance activities on machinery and infrastructure
- Assisting with equipment setup and disassembly for operational needs
- Preparing vehicles for resale, including cleaning and photography for advertising purposes
- Providing excellent customer service when interacting with visitors or clients on‑site
**Qualifications & Skills**
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
- Forklift licence preferred (training available if not yet certified)
- Basic knowledge of schematics, mechanical systems, and maintenance procedures is desirable
- Experience with hand tools, power tools, welding, and equipment repair is advantageous
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
- Strong organisational skills with an eye for detail in maintaining yard safety standards
- Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and clients
- Physical fitness to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Prior experience in assembly or mechanical roles is a plus but not mandatory; willingness to learn is essential
