Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Yard Operative Gate Marshal to join our team at the Copart Chester Operations Centre, CH5 2QZ.

As a Yard Operative Gate Marshal, you will play a vital role in maintaining the safe, organised, and efficient running of our yard and external areas. Your primary focus will be on day-to-day yard operations, including vehicle movement coordination, maintaining a clean and hazard-free environment, supporting loading and unloading activities, and ensuring all site procedures are followed to the highest standard.

Alongside your core yard duties, you will also act as the first point of contact for drivers, customers, and visitors entering the site. As Gate Marshal, you'll provide clear direction, manage vehicle flow, check documentation, and ensure all arrivals meet our safety and compliance requirements. Your professional, confident, and friendly approach will help maintain a safe site while delivering excellent customer service.

This combined role places you at the heart of the operation, supporting yard activities, controlling site access, and helping ensure a smooth, efficient, and safe working environment for everyone.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist members and customers upon arrival.
  • Ensure all visitors comply with safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE.
  • Organise and coordinate vehicle collections, verifying all documentation.
  • Manage the customer loading area and oversee vehicle movements safely.
  • Conduct vehicle and documentation inspections for accuracy and compliance.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by responding promptly to inquiries and resolving issues.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation throughout the yard and working areas.
  • Complete administrative tasks including data entry, record-keeping, and documentation management.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Adhere to all company policies, safety procedures, and environmental guidelines.
  • Work flexibly across different areas of the yard to support operational needs.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Strong understanding of vehicle documentation and compliance requirements.
  • Proficient in using computer systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Confident problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach.
  • Outstanding communication skills-both verbal and written.
  • Exceptional customer service and professional phone manner.
