Care Assistant required to support a 10 year old boy with autism who is preverbal, who lives in the Pittington area of Durham.
We are looking for someone with experience to look after our 10 year old for 6 hours every other weekend.
Hours /Wage
6 hours per fortnight £13 per hour
We need someone to provide support for 6 hours every other weekend – this will usually be the hours of 12 – 6 while Sunderland are playing at home so that family can attend the match with their other child, however this may vary and the hours will be available all year round.
Duties
You will be supporting the child either in his own home, or encouraging his independence by taking him out to activities in the community such as swimming, taking to the park or the cinema, or supermarket. You will need to be aware that he may struggle in noisy environments and manage this appropriately.
Occasionally you may be looking after him in your own home if this is convenient.
You will be required to assist with personal care as he wears incontinence pads.
Additional Requirements/Information
Experience of working with children with autism
There is a friendly dog in the home so you will need to be comfortable with dogs
You will need to be a driver and have your own car
Enhanced DBS will be required, employer will cover the cost
