Outreach Support Worker required to support a 7 year old boy who lives in the Sherburn area of Durham.

The child you would be supporting is a bright, cheeky and energetic 7 year old who thrives on 1:1 attention and loves activities such as climbing, trampolining, swimming and trips to the beach. He needs additional support and reassurance due to social, emotional and mental health needs linked to early childhood trauma.

Hours /Wage

9.5 hours per day (8.30 am – 6 pm) £ 13 per hour

Proposed dates are currently 29th and 30th December, 2nd, 5th and 6th January. More hours may be available during future school holidays.

Duties

We are looking for a supportive, reliable and nurturing person to work on a 1:1 basis with him while parent is at work, during non term time. Duties will include:

· Trips on planned activities/days out such as Clip’n’Climb, swimming, cinema· Encouraging his adventurous spirit and helping to try new things in a safe way· Supporting his regulation through movement, calm reassurance and practical strategies· Building a trusting positive relationship where he can feel safe, valued and understood

Additional Requirements/Information

The ideal person will:

· Have experience supporting children with trauma, SEMH needs or SEND.· Be trauma informed and understand the impact of early childhood adversity.· Use a patient, firm but fair approach that provides structure and consistency.· Be active, playful, and willing to join in with adventurous activities.· Act as a positive role model, encouraging self-esteem and resilience.· Be calm, reassuring, and able to manage challenges with empathy.

You will hold a driving licence and have access to a car for outings.

An enhanced DBS will be required, employer will cover the cost
