Neway International are seeking a Senior Social Worker – Looked After Children (Kingston & Richmond) to join our client Achieving for Children.
Location: Guildhall Complex, Kingston
Hours: 36 per week (09:00 – 17:00)
Start Date: 02 January 2026
End Date: ON-GOING
Rates: PAYE £29.70 per hour / Limited/Umbrella £39.04 per hour
Work Pattern: Minimum 3 days per week office-based (Kingston)

The Role
As Senior Social Worker within the Children Looked After Team, you will play a vital role in safeguarding and supporting children in care. You will manage complex cases, provide professional supervision, and contribute to care planning and permanency outcomes. This is a fast-paced role requiring resilience, strong assessment skills, and a commitment to improving outcomes for looked after children.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a caseload of looked after children, ensuring their needs are met through effective care planning
Undertake statutory visits, assessments, and reviews in line with legislation and guidance
Contribute to permanency planning, including adoption and long-term fostering arrangements
Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to safeguard and promote the welfare of children
Provide professional supervision and mentoring to junior staff where required
Prepare high-quality reports for court proceedings, care planning meetings, and statutory reviews
Ensure compliance with Achieving for Children policies, procedures, and the London Pledge standards
Candidate Requirements
Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England
Minimum 3 years’ post-qualifying experience directly employed by a local authority
Completion of ASYE (if qualified after September 2012)
Strong knowledge of legislation, guidance, and best practice relating to looked after children
Experience of complex case management, risk assessment, and care planning
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across agencies
Resilient, organised, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
