Summary
Enforcement of the Building Regulations and allied legislation. Plan examination and Inspection of works to ascertain compliance with Planning conditions.
To ensure a strong and efficient performance culture with a focus on service excellence and customer satisfaction.

Plan examination and inspection of works to ascertain compliance with Planning conditions.
Assess and determine Full Plans Notifications and issue decision notices.
Processing of Building Regulation notifications including the provision of pre-application advice.
Carry out the inspection and certification of building work.
To be responsible for ensuring effective enforcement where the Building Regulations have been contravened.
To respond to notifications of dangerous structures and recommend appropriate action to the Building Control Manager.
Manage workload to meet statutory time limits, performance standards and service level agreements.
To be responsible for managing customer relationships, providing professional customer orientated service and promote Building Control services.
To advise officers of other units and Members by providing specialist advice on the Building Act, Building Regulations and construction related matters including disabled access, sustainability and means of escape in case of fire.
Provide advice to industry professionals on appropriate building standards relating to development proposals and works in progress.
Undertake any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Building Control Manager.
To work as part of a team ensuring that fluctuations in workload are met and by covering for other surveyors in their absence.
