A supportive and forward-thinking school in Newton Heath is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to work across Key Stages 1, 2 and 3. This role is ideal for someone confident supporting pupils with a wide range of special educational needs within a school environment.
The Role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing targeted support to pupils 1:1 and in small groups
- Using effective strategies to help learners with speech, language and communication needs, including pupils who are non-verbal
- Supporting children and young people with autism, sensory differences and social communication challenges
- Managing and responding to challenging behaviour linked to SEMH needs, using a calm and consistent approach
- Working collaboratively with teachers and SENCOs to adapt tasks, remove barriers to learning and promote inclusion
- Encouraging pupils to develop confidence, independence and positive engagement in the classroom
What We Need From You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience supporting SEN pupils in a school setting (essential)
- Strong understanding of autism, communication needs and behaviour support strategies
- Patience, empathy and the ability to build strong rapport with pupils
- A resilient, proactive approach and a genuine passion for helping children succeed
- Confidence supporting a range of ages from KS1 to KS3
