Full Time | Term Time Only | January 2026 Start
Up to £110 per day | Long Term Role (Temp to Perm)
We are recruiting for a nurturing and dedicated Early Years SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist ASD school in Barnet, supporting children across Early Years and Primary who have Autism Spectrum Disorder and associated communication needs.
The school follows a therapeutic, child-centred approach and is looking for someone who can offer calm, consistent and engaging support. You will work closely with teachers, therapists and behaviour specialists to help each pupil develop communication, independence and emotional regulation skills in a structured yet nurturing environment.
This position is ideal for someone passionate about early childhood development, ASD support, and therapeutic learning environments. Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support for children with ASD
- Use therapeutic approaches to help pupils regulate and engage
- Support communication development, including use of visuals and structured routines
- Assist with personal care, sensory needs and transitions throughout the school day
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and SEN specialists
- Help maintain a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience supporting children with ASD or complex SEND
- A calm, patient and engaging manner
- Confidence supporting Early Years and Primary-aged pupils
- Knowledge of therapeutic approaches (TEACCH, sensory strategies, play-based learning) is beneficial
- Qualifications in childcare, SEN, psychology, education or related fields (desirable)
- Understanding of safeguarding and individual education plans
