A Vacancy at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
This role is a 12 month fixed term appointment that has become available as a result of the intention to create a series of 50/50 educational clinical fellow appointments with half time delivering education and half time delivering clinical commitments. The role is employed by the trust and not by the university.
This role is equivalent to a Junior Clinical Fellow and has been created at NNUH to support secondary care teaching for Norwich medical Students during secondary care placements and some campus-based sessions as required. In view of need for maintaining clinical skills of the appointee, it is anticipated that 0.5wte of the post will be for clinical activity in Diabetes and Endocrinology and remaining 0.5wte devoted to Norwich Medical School teaching activities. Due to modular nature of the delivery of curriculum, the medical students spend around 6-12 weeks per year in department for clinical contact. Hence it is anticipated that, when the students are in secondary care placements, the Teaching Fellow will be undertaking primarily teaching duties (prioritised for teaching). For the remaining period approximately 1 day per week should be devoted to Norwich Medical School activities based at CSRA and 4 days per week on delivery of clinical duties in Diabetes and Endocrinology. Rest of the commitments will be aimed at clinical delivery in the department.
NNUH is the largest teaching partner of the UEA Norwich Medical School. The Trust provides approximately 25,000 student days of secondary care placement teaching every year and hosts most of the School’s OSCEs.
Clinical Skills Resource Area (CSRA) is an area of the Trust dedicated to the Medical School and staffed by a small team comprising clinicians, nurses, technician and administrators. This team is responsible for the planning and organising of all secondary care placements and for the delivery of OSCEs.
The educational (Endocrinology and Diabetes) clinical teaching fellow will be an integral member of this departmental junior doctor team and will be a key individual in the delivery of the UEA Norwich Medical School MB/BS programme.
