We have 2 part-time (21 hours) permanent vacant posts.
As a BSL Interpreter, you will play a vital role in supporting Deaf patients and their families throughout their cochlear implant journey—from assessment and surgery to rehabilitation and follow-up care. You’ll work closely with audiologists, rehabilitationist, ENT consultants, and other professionals to ensure clear, culturally sensitive communication at every stage.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Provide high-quality BSL/English interpreting for clinical appointments, assessments, and group sessions
Support patients and families in understanding complex medical and audiological information
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure inclusive, patient-centred care
Maintain accurate records and uphold confidentiality and professional standards
Contribute to Deaf awareness and accessibility initiatives within the Centre
What We’re Looking For
Registered Sign Language Interpreter with National Registers of Communication Professionals working with Deaf and Deafblind People (NRCPD)
Level 6 qualification in BSL Interpreting or postgraduate degree in interpreting
Experience working in healthcare or with Deaf clients in clinical settings preferred
Strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
