What skills and experience we're looking for
Mackie Hill Junior and Infant school is seeking to appoint a class teacher with vision, energy and sky-high expectations to join our amazing team.
We are a small school with a big heart and you would be joining us at an exciting time following a good Ofsted in January 2025 and with a mission to make transformational improvements to our already strong offer.
Mackie Hill has an ethos of supporting the whole child through a nurturing approach whilst also maintaining high expectations and ambitions for every child. We are proud of our reputation of inclusivity and support our children with additional needs extremely well.
• Good KS2 practitioner with excellent personal organisation and interpersonal skills
• Strong ability to use adaptive teaching and effective scaffolds to promote an inclusive classroom environment where everybody thrives
• Ability to use a range of effective strategies to enable children to manage their behaviour
• Ability to work with all members of the school team
• Creative and effective teaching and learning styles to engage, motivate and enable all children to make good progress
• Ability to effectively plan for additional adults in the classroom
• Excellent knowledge of the KS2 Curriculum expectations
• A solid understanding of how children learn to their full potential
• Ability to quickly identify children who need additional support and adapt planning accordingly
• A working knowledge of planning and delivering a creative curriculum
• Knowledge and understanding of the principles behind Safeguarding, Equal Opportunities and Inclusion
• Knowledge and understanding of the Code of Practice for SEN and its application in schools
• Experience of teaching with KS2
• Experience of working effectively with parents and the community
• BEd or Degree + PGCE
• Qualified Teacher Status
• Relevant recent training
•
• An enthusiasm for teaching and learning
• Demonstrable commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
• A commitment to the vision and ethos of the school
• A commitment to continuing professional development
• Openness and a good sense of humour with the energy and enthusiasm to inspire confidence
• Commitment to foster and develop links with the local community
• Positive attitude, understanding and respect towards parents, pupils, staff, governors and the wider community
