Are you ready to kick-start your career in Payroll and make a real difference across the Scottish Borders Council? We’re offering a fantastic Modern Apprenticeship opportunity for a motivated individual to join our HR Shared Services, Payroll Team.
This is an opportunity to be part of the payroll team, processing payments to all employees of Scottish Borders Council, alongside undertaking a professionally recognised qualification. You will gain hands-on experience, develop key Payroll skills, and work alongside experienced professionals who will support your growth and development every step of the way.
Role Purpose
As part of the apprenticeship you will be required to engage with a training provider to obtain the desired qualification in Payroll and have regular meetings with the supervisor and/or assessor.
What you’ll be doing -
Assisting with processing Starters, Leavers and Changes of contracts to ensure correct payroll payment.
Assisting with processing employee claims, sickness, maternity and other family related periods of absence.
Gain an understanding of payroll processing, audit and all the statutory processes and regulations that must be followed.

Commitment to completing the apprenticeship programme.
