Summary
Neway International are seeking a Housing Advice & Homeless Prevention Officer to join our client London Borough of Hillingdon.
Location: London Borough of Hillingdon Hours: 36 per week (09:00 – 17:00)
Start Date: 24 November 2025
End Date: 16 February 2026 (likely to be extended)
Pay Rates: PAYE £22.98 per hour / Limited/Umbrella £30.00 per hour

The Role
The Housing Advice & Homeless Prevention Officer will be part of the Housing Options duty service, carrying out assessments, managing varied caseloads, and delivering prevention and relief work. The role requires strong knowledge of housing legislation and the ability to work effectively in a pressurised environment.
Key Responsibilities
Complete homelessness assessments and provide tailored prevention and relief interventions.
Manage a varied caseload, ensuring timely and effective casework.
Carry out homelessness enquiries and draft s184 decision letters.
Provide housing advice in line with Part VII Housing Act 1996, Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, and other relevant legislation.
Deliver high-quality customer service, supporting residents at risk of homelessness.
Work collaboratively as part of the Housing Options duty service team.
Balance multiple demands and pressures within a fast-paced environment.
Contribute to service improvements and flexible working arrangements.
Candidate Requirements
Practical experience within Housing Options Services, delivering advice and prevention work.
Strong knowledge of homelessness legislation, including Part VII Housing Act 1996 and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
Experience in carrying out homelessness enquiries and drafting s184 decision letters.
Ability to manage workload effectively, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders.
Commitment to customer-focused service delivery.
Empathy, discretion, and reliability in handling sensitive cases.
Self-motivated, flexible, and resourceful team player.
