Summary

Pinnacle Group are looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join our Total Facilities Management team within the Swindon Schools PFI contract. In this role, you will take ownership of maintaining and keeping in good repair the building’s electrical and mechanical systems along with heating systems, AHU’s and associated components, You’ll play a key role in keeping essential services running smoothly, creating safe and efficient environments ensuring compliance and operational excellence.

Our Total Facilities Management team delivers integrated asset management and maintenance services across education, leisure, corporate, health and residential sectors. We focus on keeping facilities running smoothly, safely, and efficiently – helping our clients create spaces that work for everyone.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in building services and facilities engineering, supported by strong technical knowledge and relevant certifications. You’ll be confident in delivering both planned and reactive maintenance, supervising contractors ensuring strict compliance with health and safety standards. A proactive problem-solver with exceptional organisational skills, you’ll thrive under pressure and work collaboratively as part of a high-performing team.

The rotating shift pattern is 7am to 3pm, 12pm to 10pm and during school holidays will be 8am to 4pm. A full UK driving licence is essential as a company van will be provided. Due to the nature of this role, an enhanced DBS check will be required.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Maintain and keep in good repair all building electrical and mechanical systems, including heating systems, AHUs, pumps, extracts, and heat exchangers.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance checks to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Inspect and service heating systems, including pumps and associated components.
  • Perform air handling system maintenance and ensure optimal performance.
  • Service unvented hot water heaters in line with safety standards.
  • Conduct plant room checks and maintain all related equipment.
  • Complete communal lighting checks and address any faults promptly.
  • Undertake building audits to identify and resolve maintenance issues proactively.
  • Supervise contractors on-site, ensuring adherence to safe systems of work and health and safety regulations.
  • Respond promptly to reactive maintenance issues to minimise downtime and disruption.

Key requirements:

  • Proven experience and knowledge of building services and facilities engineering, with strong health & safety awareness; H&S qualification desirable.
  • High attention to detail and problem-solving ability; qualifications such as C&G 2391, 18th Edition, and F-Gas Cat1 would be advantageous.
  • Certifications including Unvented Hot Water Ticket and L8 Level 2, plus plumbing skills; IPAF and PASMA qualifications desirable.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Full UK driving licence required.
  • Commitment to maintaining compliance and delivering high-quality service standards.
