Summary

School of Science and Engineering
Full-Time/Permanent (This role is based between Dundee and China) Grade 7
or 8 (£41,671 - £55,755)
The School of Science and Engineering seeks a Lecturer in Mathematics to contribute to our dynamic teaching and research
environment. The successful candidate will pursue high-quality research that complements our strengths and contribute to
teaching at the Dundee International Institute in Changsha, China. The Dundee International Institute of Central South
University (DIICSU) is a partnership between the University of Dundee and Central South University (CSU), a top-tier
university in Changsha, China.
A unique aspect of this position is its international dimension. You will have two work pattern options: either undertaking your
teaching in one intensive 20-week semester at the DIICSU in Changsha, China, with the remainder of your time spent in
Dundee, UK, or being fully based in our Changsha campus. The preferred pattern will be discussed with the successful
candidate. You will benefit from an exceptionally supportive environment that actively encourages professional development
and offers numerous opportunities for collaboration.
As this role is based in the UK and China, you must hold the right to work in both countries or be eligible to obtain it. Visa
support will be provided. To obtain a China visa, you must have 2 years of lecturer-level teaching experience in Higher
Education and hold a PhD.

* Numerical Analysis and Scientific Computing, developing numerical methods and algorithms that are accurate,
efficient, and robust with respect to challenges that manifest in the simulation of complex phenomena arising in
biological and physical applications.
* Uncertainty quantification, stochastic and predictive modelling, scientific machine learning and optimisation.
