Summary
Contract type: Permanent, Full time

The purpose of this role is to support public protection processes by handling sensitive information, coordinating with internal and external agencies, and ensuring all safeguarding responsibilities are delivered effectively to protect children, vulnerable individuals, and the wider public.

- Someone who can demonstrate the highest levels of trust, professionalism, and discretion when managing sensitive information.
- A team player with strong interpersonal skills and the flexibility to work effectively with visitors, staff, and prisoners.
- Strong communication, organisational, and analytical abilities, with the capability to monitor and audit processes.
- An understanding of working in a secure environment (or willingness to learn).
What the Role Involves
Full training will be provided, and responsibilities include:
- Reporting directly to the Public Protection Manager and completing assigned duties.
- Processing child contact applications from prisoners in line with the Public Protection Manual, liaising closely with external agencies.
- Gathering and collating information from prisoner files on arrival, preparing this for internal and external sharing.
- Monitoring telephone calls and incoming/outgoing mail, identifying and reporting intelligence where necessary.
- Ensuring all monitoring complies with relevant legislation and that required authority is in place before acting.
- Correctly logging all monitoring activity and securely storing collected data.
- Completing relevant checks for prisoners with restrictions before adding approved contacts.
- Working with the Police Information Officer to support evidence gathering.
- Gathering intelligence from incident reports (IRs) and assisting the Security Manager.
Desirable (Not Essential)
- Experience working in a secure environment or with a similar client group.
- Experience in process management.
- Strong report-writing skills and confidence handling data and statistics.
- Knowledge of the Serco Custodial Security Strategy (SCSS), relevant PSO/PSIs, or Local Operating Procedures.
