A well-established, RCVS-accredited 24-hour small animal hospital in picturesque Berkshire is seeking a dedicated Night Veterinary Surgeon to join their welcoming and supportive team. This is a unique opportunity to take sole charge of night surgery on a 14-hour shift, seven nights on, 14 nights off, in a practice renowned for its commitment to high standards of patient care and professional development.
The hospital provides out-of-hours care, hospitalisation, and case work-ups for its surrounding branches, as well as first-opinion services during the week. The team combines a wealth of experience, including certificate holders and seasoned ECC colleagues, ensuring a collaborative and professional environment.
The Role
The Night Veterinary Surgeon will be entrusted with autonomous decision-making while maintaining excellent client care and working cohesively with the wider team. This role is ideal for a confident, skilled veterinary surgeon looking for independence, professional growth, and a supportive work culture.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver exceptional clinical care during consultations and procedures.
• Provide clear, professional updates to clients on patient progress.
• Maintain the highest standards of regulatory, practice, and operational compliance.
• Prepare tailored treatment and care plans with accurate cost estimates.
• Mentor and support the team to enhance their skills and clinical efficiency.
• Complete clinical handovers and coordinate patient transfers for out-of-hours or enhanced care.
Candidate Requirements
• RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon.
• Proven experience in delivering outstanding patient and client care.
• Strong team player with leadership and mentoring experience.
• Ability to work independently with confidence and professional integrity.
• Experience supporting nurse consults and schedule 3 procedures to improve clinic efficiency.
• Skilled in coaching and influencing colleagues to foster a progressive clinical culture.
