Summary
Track & chase diagnostic investigations for all patients on specific cancer pathways ensuring these are booked to meet timed pathway requirements. Ensure results are available for Outpatient appointments and MDTs. . Proactively liaise with patients on cancer pathway to ensure they are aware of diagnostic pathway expediting investigations whilst meeting their preferences reducing risk of wasted appointments. Liaise with GP practices to retract referrals where patients are not engaging in the cancer pathway or inappropriately referred. Book post-MDT follow up appointments for certain tumour sites Track & chase surgical/tertiary hospital investigations including PET scans Attend cancer PTL (Patient Tracking List) meetings for relevant tumour sites To carry out administrative and clerical duties as requested within the department in an efficient and confidential manner. To assist the team in collating excellent website- cancer related information. To communicate with patients families and carers in a sensitive and confidential manner working closely with clinical teams as required. Use electronic hospital systems to pull of results or information as required. The post holder will ensure records are maintained on hospital IT systems The post holder will be expected to exercise judgement when dealing with enquiries and analyse information to resolve the patient queries. The post holder will support the team in managing diaries, arranging meetings, scheduling clinics. There is an expectation to plan and organise straight forward activities on an ongoing basis. Minute taking will be required at times The post holder will support audits and survey completion within the department gathering data as required. The post holder will be required to cover other tumour sites during periods of annual leave.
