Summary


Applications are invited for vacancies at Senior Locally Employed Doctor level in General Paediatrics at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and its Managed Clinical Services at North Manchester General Hospital and Wythenshawe Hospital.

This is a fixed term 2-year rotational post via the Manchester International Fellowship Training Scheme for those wishing to gain UK experience at middle grade level or as a preparations for MRCPCH exams.

Applications will only be accepted from candidates who satisfy the below(please note this list is not exhaustive, please review the full person specification before applying):
• Candidate is resident overseas at point of application (lived outside UK and European Union for at least 12 months)
• Have a relevant English Language competence evidenced via either the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or Occupational English Test (OET)
• Evidence of at least 3 years structured paediatric training outside of the UK and European Union

Successful candidates will gain specialist paediatric experience within one of the largest children’s hospitals in the UK, with additional responsibility for provision of out of hour’s cover. As well as giving advice on referrals, you will also attend ward rounds, be responsible for ward-based clinical duties and attend out-patient clinics.

Interviews will be held via MS Teams and all candidates should be expected to commence in post no later early June 2026.

We can offer different working patterns depending on the skills and experience of successful candidates. All middle grade posts involve an element of out of hours resident on call duties covering admissions and ward patients. Examples of the possible rota schedules are attached to this advert. Senior Locally Employed Doctors are responsible for immediate supervision of the ST1-2 when on call or at the weekends. Daily ward rounds are led by the hot week Consultant

All referrals regarding Child Protection are seen by middle grade doctors/ Consultants. The ST4+ also has regular OP clinic commitments and administrative duties as well as role in medical student education.

As RMCH is a specialist children’s hospital, there may also be the opportunity for successful candidates to be based in one of our tertiary medical specialties.
