Summary

Teacher of English

Permanent

MPS/UPS plus Potential TLR

Flexible starts avalable

ECTs encouraged to apply

I am currently recruiting for a Teacher of English to join a welcoming, forward-thinking secondary school in Thurrock, Essex. This is a permanent position with flexible start dates available in January 2026, April 2026 or September 2026. The school is open to applications from both ECTs and experienced teachers, and is especially keen to meet colleagues who can inspire a love of reading, writing and spoken language across the key stages.

The English department is a key strength of the school, with a rich curriculum that includes a diverse range of texts and opportunities for students to develop their analytical and creative skills. As Teacher of English, you will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality lessons at KS3 and KS4, with the possibility of A Level teaching for suitable candidates. You will work with a supportive team that shares resources, moderates work together and actively supports professional development.

From my conversations with the school, they are looking for someone who brings energy, enthusiasm and a reflective approach to their practice. ECTs will receive excellent support from an experienced mentor and a structured induction programme. For more experienced colleagues, there is the potential for additional responsibility, and TLRs may be available for candidates who can contribute to curriculum development, literacy across the curriculum or other departmental priorities.

If you would like to explore this Teacher of English opportunity in Thurrock, please contact me to discuss your background and what you are looking for in your next role. I will take the time to understand your strengths and preferences, introduce you to the school and support you with every stage of the recruitment process, including interview and lesson preparation.
