Summary

Job Title: Transport Planner

Location: Worcester

Shifts: Rotating shifts (days & nights)

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Transport Planner with a strong background in both transport and warehouse operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning efficient routes, coordinating fleet activity, and supporting smooth warehouse-to-transport workflow. This is a rotating shift role, so flexibility to work both days and nights is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Transport Planning & Coordination

  • Plan, schedule and optimise daily routes to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries


  • Assign loads to drivers in line with legal requirements, fleet capability and customer needs


  • Monitor fleet progress using tracking systems and respond to delays or issues


  • Ensure compliance with driver hours, WTD, and all relevant transport legislation


    Operational & Warehouse Integration

    • Work closely with warehouse teams to manage load planning, dispatch accuracy and turnaround times


    • Coordinate vehicle loading, departure, and arrival schedules


    • Communicate clearly with warehouse supervisors to maintain workflow efficiency


      Communication & Administration

      • Provide clear instructions to drivers and ensure all job details are communicated accurately


      • Maintain accurate records, delivery notes, manifests, and system updates


      • Liaise with customers regarding delivery times, delays, or queries


      • Escalate issues and provide operational updates to management


        Skills & Experience Required

        • Previous experience as a Transport Planner or similar transport coordination role


        • Strong understanding of warehouse operations and the transport–warehouse interface


        • Knowledge of driver hours, legal compliance, and WTD


        • Experience working with route planning tools or TMS systems


        • Excellent communication and organisational skills


        • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to operational changes


        • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive mindset


        • Flexible and willing to work rotating day and night shifts
