About the Role
We are looking to recruit a Service Manager for Highway Network Management (HNM) Street Works Coordination and the Traffic Control Centre( TCC) who can represent the Authority at a senior level. This is a new position as part of a service area restructure and as an experienced individual, you will need to translate and deliver the vision for Nottingham City Council and for the City, placing our citizens at the heart of everything we do. You will be proactive and provide leadership and effective management to support the Council’s statutory duties under the Traffic Management Act 2004 and a range of Highway Network Management services and functions including:
- Street Works Management
- Traffic Control Centre
- Intelligent Traffic Systems
- Traffic Signals Maintenance Contract
About You
You will be an effective people manager who is skilled at developing staff, including setting objectives, managing performance and providing support across a wide range of professional spheres. The ideal candidate will have:
- Substantial knowledge and understanding of national and local policies, codes of practice and legislation relevant to the duties of the post.
- Suitably experienced and qualified in the day to day management of traffic and the regulation of street works to minimise congestion on the City's highway network. Has expertise in delivering physical network management improvements that reduce congestion, enhance mobility for pedestrians, cyclists, public transport and other traffic.
- Knowledge and experience of the Traffic Management Act 2004 and other related legislation associated with this post.
- People Management skills and experience to empower and motivate teams to deliver results. Can set high performance targets with clear expectations, monitor progress, support and develop staff including addressing any under performance constructively.
- Experience or an understanding of a Traffic Control Centre operations to optimise traffic signals and other intelligent traffic systems.
- Has competent budget skills and an understanding of capital and revenue budgets.
