Job Title: Registered Nurse
Location: Care Home (Adamstan House)
Hours: Full-time/Part-time (Days/Nights)
Reports to: Home Manager / Clinical Lead
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
Job Purpose
To provide high-quality, person-centred nursing care to residents of the care home, ensuring dignity, safety, and wellbeing at all times. The nurse will lead care staff during shifts, administer medications, and maintain clinical standards in accordance with the NMC Code and CQC requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualised care plans for residents.
Deliver safe and effective nursing interventions including wound care, catheter care, PEG feeding, diabetes management, and palliative/end-of-life care.
Administer and record medications accurately in accordance with MAR charts and home policies.
Monitor and report changes in residents’ health, escalating concerns to GPs, community teams, or emergency services when needed.
Maintain accurate, up-to-date clinical records in line with NMC and CQC standards.
Leadership & Teamwork
Lead and support care assistants, ensuring high-quality care and adherence to policies.
Allocate duties, provide guidance, supervise tasks, and complete handover reports.
Promote a positive, supportive working environment that encourages learning and professional development.
Safeguarding & Compliance
Protect residents from harm by following safeguarding procedures and raising concerns appropriately.
Ensure compliance with CQC regulations, infection control standards, care-home policies, and health & safety guidelines.
Participate in audits, quality assurance checks, and continuous improvement activities.
Resident Experience & Family Liaison
Build strong relationships with residents and their families, promoting trust and open communication.
Support residents’ emotional, psychological, and social needs.
Uphold dignity, choice, privacy, and independence at all times.
Night-Shift Responsibilities
Act as the senior clinical lead on duty during the night.
Respond promptly to emergencies and deterioration in residents’ conditions.
Complete nightly rounds, ensuring residents’ safety, comfort, and clinical needs are met.
Maintain a calm and reassuring environment during overnight hours.
Prepare accurate night-to-day handovers for incoming staff.
Qualifications & Requirements
NMC-registered nurse (RGN, RMN, or RNLD).
Valid UK right to work.
Experience in elderly care, dementia care, or nursing homes is preferred (but not always essential).
Strong clinical assessment skills.
Compassionate, patient-centred approach.
Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
