Summary

SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) Specialist Teaching AssistantScale 4 £27,254 - £28,598 pro rata (actual starting salary £23,704.81 pa)37 hours per week - term time onlyStart Date - As Soon As PossibleSouth Wolds is a high attaining semi-rural popular school located in the village of Keyworth in Nottinghamshire which is only 6 miles from West Bridgford. We are also a founding partner of the East Midlands Education Trust, committed to providing a first-class education for all of our students.Our ideal SEMH Specialist Teaching Assistant might already have experience in a mainstream secondary school setting, or you might have worked with children and young people with behavioural difficulties in other settings. You will need to be someone who is happy to do whatever it takes to ensure that all students make great progress academically as well as with their SEMH differences.We are looking for someone who wants to make a difference with children and young people, who enjoys spending time with them, and who is excited to share learning with them. You will need to be able to stay calm under pressure and maintain positive relationships with young people who may display challenging behaviour. At South Wolds we believe that all behaviour is communication, and that children who present with challenging behaviour need additional care and support. We believe in taking a trauma-informed, relational approach, as the majority of students you will be working with have had adverse childhood experiences.
