Outline of main job duties/responsibilities

• Acute Geriatrics service: COPS input to frail older patients in accident and emergency and the acute admissions unit. The acute geriatrics consultant works in parallel with an acute medical consultant on the AMU and is supported by a team of junior doctors & registrars, therapists and older adult specialist nurses. They look after an average of 15-20 patients.
• Acute inpatient care on T10. This is carried out by three separate teams, each led by a consultant and supported by registrars/CMTs/Foundation trainees.
• Ortho-geriatrics Liaison Service; average number varies from 5-10. The model is a liaison service whereby the patients stay under the care of the orthopaedic team, with ortho-geriatrics consultant & registrar providing specialist reviews for hip fracture patients.
• Gastroenterology surgical liaison service. Average number varies from 5-10. The model is a liaison service whereby the patients stay under the care of the surgical team, with geriatrics consultant & registrar providing specialist reviews.
• Community services: Domiciliary visits / MDTs / Nursing home work within Camden & Islington.
• Older Adult Assessment team: A team of specialist nurses who support in the delivery of excellent care for frail older patients with a particular focus on patients with dementia and delirium.
• Outpatients: Two general elderly medicine clinics, a multidisciplinary falls clinic, and two rapid access clinics
