Summary
1. Be a key point of contact for retention and progression related queries for both staff and students. 2. Working with the retention administrator, regularly review each individual students activity via the data on relevant systems, including relevant Bi dashboards, attendance records and student interaction with the Virtual Learning Environment to identify students at risk of disengagement as indicated by a reduction in activity levels. 3. Determine if the student requires additional support to enable progression / retention and, where appropriate, refer to the Personal Academic Tutor / Course leader and / or relevant student services for that support. 4. Working with the retention administrator, manage students who take temporary withdrawal from the programme, withdraw from the programme or who take maternity / paternity leave during the programme, ensuring consistency and effective communication with students and across departments, and where appropriate, draw up a clear plan for the student to return and communicate it effectively. 5. Liaise with PATs and Course leader to ensure timely referral to Occupational Health services for students requiring health assessment, and ensure appropriate recommendations are actioned. 6. Monitor retention trends across the Department (including withdrawals, temporary withdrawals and fails / non-submissions) in relation to protected characteristics, demographic characteristics, or other variables. 7. Collaborate with the Placement Support Team to facilitate the allocation of practice placements for students returning to the programme after temporary withdrawal or other significant delays. 8. Attend the Board of Examiners (progression / award board) and Practice Panels to advise on student progression (and temporary / permanent withdrawal where necessary). 9. Plan the induction programme for each year of study in collaboration with the Course Leader and wider course team. 10. Review and update the course handbook annually with the Course Leader. 11. In collaboration with Head of Department manage the deployment of Associate Lecturers, acting as the point of contact between academic staff and Associate Lecturers, ensuring timely requests are actioned and, in liaison with the Project and Finance Administrator ensure timely payment processes are achieved. 12. Maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job; participate in appropriate training activities and encourage and support staff in their development and training. 13. Take steps to ensure and enhance personal health, safety, and well-being and that of other staff and students. 14.
