Summary

What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for a teacher who:

• Is actively committed to the aims and ethos of our Catholic Christian school
• Is kind, caring and positive, committed to removing barriers so that all children can achieve
• Has high expectations and can inspire and motivate children in their learning
• Is enthusiastic, hardworking and reflective
• Can communicate effectively and work as part of a strong, collaborative team

At St Swithun’s Catholic Primary School, we are dedicated to nurturing a community where both staff and pupils thrive. Our mission, “Love one another as I have loved you,” lies at the heart of everything we do.

Our recent Ofsted inspection (February 2025) affirmed our commitment to excellence, highlighting our caring ethos, high standards, and outstanding staff wellbeing.

• “Pupils behave exceptionally well and show consistently high levels of respect towards each other and staff.” – Ofsted
• “Adults engage pupils in high-quality interactions and involve them in meaningful learning experiences.” – Ofsted
• “The leadership team has maintained the good quality of education in the school since the last inspection.” – Ofsted
• “Professional development is also a priority at the school, which gives staff the opportunity to share knowledge and learn from one another.” – Ofsted
• “Parents and carers are overwhelmingly positive about the school, with 100% saying they would recommend St Swithun’s to others.” – Parent View (Ofsted)

We are proud to be an oversubscribed, ‘Good’ Catholic primary school and nursery, with a friendly and welcoming environment where every child is valued. Our school community is diverse and inclusive — with over 50 languages spoken — and our families, staff and governors work together to ensure every child flourishes academically, socially and spiritually.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed class teacher to join our team from January 2026. Being a Catholic or practising Christian is an advantage but not a prerequisite — we value the unique contribution of everyone who works within our school.

We have a strong culture of professional development and warmly welcome applications from early-career teachers (ECTs) as well as experienced practitioners.

• Is resilient, professional and self-motivated
