As part of our strong commitment to protecting the health, safety, and welfare of all individuals impacted by our activities, we are seeking to recruit a committed and highly motivated health and safety professional to join our team.

As Health and Safety Adviser you will provide an efficient, effective, and comprehensive health and safety service to a range of council services, joint boards, and agencies as well as a full range of professional advice and guidance on areas such as health and safety management systems, employee welfare and well-being. You will conduct data analysis, prepare reports and provide statistical returns as appropriate.

It is essential that you possess a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent and be- a member or be working towards chartered membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health or equivalent professional body.

With experience in a health and safety environment, ideally within a multi- disciplinary environment, you will have prepared and participated in the delivery of health and safety training courses to IOSH or other accrediting body standards. You will also have undertaken accident/incident investigations and will be skilled in recommending appropriate preventative measures.

It is essential you have experience of construction health and safety matters, conducting health and safety audits and inspections and you have a clear understanding of the current health and safety issues and legislation impacting on employers.

You will be experienced in developing policies and procedures within a large organisation and be an effective communicator with an ability to work creatively and imaginatively, taking a practical approach to problem solving.

With a clear stakeholder focus you’ll have the ability to positively respond to enquiries effectively and efficiently, providing competent advice and guidance on health and safety matters to managers and employees at all levels.

You must be proficient in ICT systems and applications, be able to work on your own initiative and have flexibility to cover events out-with normal office hours and weekends.

Possession of a full driving licence is essential.

Relevant operational experience within local authority or large organisation, experience of event health and safety management and knowledge of effective health and safety management systems is desirable.
