Summary

Job Vacancy

This is an exciting opportunity to manage and develop a team delivering business support services across the Council.

Along with this you will be responsible for the ongoing development and business transformation of the service. This will include ensuring the relevant business and legislative processes and timescales are followed and achieved. You will also lead the operational support for the Council’s Managed Print Service liaising with the managed print service provider and Digital Services to provide an effective print service across the Council.

KNOWLEDGE

Educational:

Essential:

Jobholders must be educated to SVQ level 4/HND in a relevant subject such as Business Management, Administration, or evidence of equivalent competency to this level would be an acceptable alternative.

Experience:

Essential:

A professional knowledge of administration and operational methodology and procedures is essential.

To be competent in the role the Jobholder must have good interpersonal skills and develop and maintain an understanding of all aspects of the Midlothian Council Business Support Services process.

Desirable:

A knowledge and understanding of the local government services provided by the Council.

Experience of managing a team to deliver service objectives.

Experience of leading/ contributing to transformational change.

An understanding of the principles of integrated services and methodology.

Please note that it is Midlothian Councils policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale.

Based on 36 hours over 52 weeks per year, the minimum actual salary for this position is £39,128.74 per annum.

Requirements

Compliance with the mandatory Cabinet Office PSN (Public Sector Network) Code of Connection requires the Council to meet a baseline personal security standard. This requires completion of a disclosure check for all employees who can access official information. The fee for this PSN Disclosure check will be met by the council.

Please note that Disclosure Scotland has changed the way PVG certificates are issued. You will be notified by email from Disclosure Scotland that your certificate is available to view. Once you have viewed your certificate you will be allowed to share this with your employer and it is only available for 14 days from the first day you have viewed the certificate. If you do not grant access to Midlothian Council to view before access is removed, a further application will need to be generated, and this will incur an additional cost.
