Organisational Overview
The Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) protects people in England and Wales who may not have the mental capacity to make certain decisions for themselves, such as about their health and finance. We are an Executive Agency of the Ministry of Justice (MoJ), set up in 2007 following the introduction of the Mental Capacity Act of 2005.
OPG is responsible for registering lasting powers of attorney (LPA) and enduring powers of attorney (EPA) and supervising deputies who are appointed by the Court of Protection.

Team Overview:
The Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) is seeking to recruit a HEO Data Quality and Governance Manager to join our Data and Performance Team, a growing and multidisciplinary team which sits in our Strategy & Central Services Directorate.
The post holder will play a vital role in ensuring data quality to the benefit of our customers who are at the heart of all we do. Leading and setting the standard for how OPG manages the quality of data through data quality rules and standards. You will assist in the delivery of OPG’s data strategy including the development of data quality action plans and development of new data standards, policies and processes to embed good data management organisationally.
As part of the Central Data team, you will collaborate with a diverse network of business experts, data owners, stewards and custodians to embed data management and governance capability across the organisation.
We are seeking someone with experience or a strong interest in Data Quality and Data Governance to provide expertise and help us drive forward our Data Improvement activities across OPG. Duties and Responsibilities
Data Governance
• Monitor and maintain data governance framework policies, standards, processes, and controls.
• Responsible for embedding good data practices across teams through collaboration and guidance.
• Assist the roll out of OPGs Data Ownership and Stewardship model
• Support Data Stewards and Data Managers with defining measurable data quality metrics and then monitor and report on them.
• Co-ordinate updates and take ownership of the OPG Data catalogue and Data landscape maps through close collaboration with OPG data stewards
• Support OPG’s wider data improvement projects including quality assuring business MI for accuracy, progressing data quality action plans and working with others to address data issues at source wherever possible.
• Updating Data Governance policies and supporting the OPG Data Governance Board and Working group.
• Maintain a central log to track and monitor data issues
• Champion the importance of high-quality data management across OPG.
Data Quality Activities
• Lead and coordinate data quality assessments, identifying gaps and inconsistencies in key datasets.
• Develop and maintain a set of data quality metrics to monitor and report on data health across OPG
• Implement a Data Quality Framework and provide targeted support to ensure successful adoption
• Work with data owners and stewards to support data cleansing, enrichment and remediation efforts.
• Analyse trends and make recommendations to improve the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of key datasets.
• Promote training, awareness, and capability building to embed data quality best practices
Other
• Support the process of capturing stakeholder data requirements, assessing, defining and justifying those needs to arrive at a definitive set of user requirements that are documented
• Develop a strong understanding of OPG wide datasets and relationships
• Other tasks and responsibilities commensurate to grade.
Agreed Expectations
The successful candidate will be expected to work from their base location on a weekly basis in line with current Civil Service requirements, outside of any reasonable adjustments.
