Summary

The University of Portsmouth Students’ Union (The Union or UPSU for short) is a forward thinking, friendly organisation with a vision of “delivering a positive impact with every Portsmouth student”. UPSU employs approximately 35 career staff, a further 100 student staff and we work with over 1000 registered student volunteers and over 100 student groups.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Central Services function as a Central Admin Supervisor. The Finance & Central Admin Supervisor post is responsible for supporting, delivering and developing the operations of the Union’s Central Service Function, including the delivery of HR and Central Admin processes and administration.

Central Admin duties will include:
- Delivery of employee lifecycle processes, from recruitment and onboarding through to leavers
- Day to day management of central boxes
- Management and checking of timesheets and sickness absence processes
- Keeping up to date records such as HR and personnel records
- Support the provision of training and inductions to new members of staff.
- Responsible for drafting agendas, circulating board papers and clerking for Union Board Meetings.
- Support and deputise for daily Finance tasks as appropriate.

The successful candidate will have strong administration skills, excellent attention to detail and understand the importance of confidentiality. They will be able to communicate effectively with all members of the staff team and have the ability to work well with others. They will also be able to handle competing priorities, able to use their initiative and enjoy working in a fast paced environment. Experience in an administration or HR administration role is preferred.
