Contract Type: Temporary, Anticipated 6 months, with extension on 3 month rolling contract, for right candidate
Working Arrangement: Hybrid (3 days in the Borough, 2 days working remotely)
Driving licence and use of own car for business purposes
The role:
On behalf of a local council, we are seeking a Capital Works Project Manager on an initial 6 months contract and a 3 months rolling contract thereafter (for the right candidate).
Ideally you will have at least 3-5 years of senior project management level experience working with Local Authorities/Public Sectors within London. Prior work experience of working in a London Borough would be an added advantage.
You wills also have great interpersonal skills and the ability to lead projects from RIBA Stage 0-7 seamlessly. You will lead on projects with a value of £5M and above.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage a portfolio of high-value capital projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget and to required quality standards.
Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, service partners and stakeholders to achieve project objectives and strong performance outcomes.
Develop and support an ‘intelligent client’ approach to optimise capital programme delivery and protect asset value.
Scope, procure and plan capital works using scenario planning, cost modelling and cost/benefit analysis to inform investment decisions.
Ensure all new assets meet specifications, are operationally ready and are fully handed over with required documentation.
Provide clear reporting, Cabinet/briefing papers and forward-planning inputs, maintaining compliance with all policies, regulations and governance requirements.
Oversee financial and programme management, including budget reviews, forecasting and risk monitoring.
Act as a construction project management expert, advising senior managers, supporting colleagues, and driving high performance from service partners.
What the client is looking for:
At least 3-5 years of senior project management level experience working with Local Authorities/Public Sectors
Previous experience of working in a London Borough would be an added advantage
Ability to lead projects from RIBA Stage 0-7 seamlessly
Ability and experience to lead on projects with a value of £5M and above
Great interpersonal skills
A relevant project or programme management qualification (e.g. PRINCE 2, APM practitioner) or asset related professional qualification
Extensive experience of managing property or other assets in a public sector environment
Experience of successfully acting in a management capacity in a public sector environment
An effective leader and able to energize, engage, motivate and manage staff to deliver to deliver against corporate, service and individual objectives
